After nearly 20 years in domestic banking and mutual funds, I reinvented my career in the field of international development. I am a conflict management specialist and certified mediator. My story is somewhat unique in that after years of building and leading dynamic teams in small and large companies, I risked everything to follow my passion for international affairs, leaving that safe and secure banking career behind to forge a new path.  Best thing I ever did!

Today, I feel positioned to use my education and experiences in ways more directed at helping others, such as project and program management, community development, mediation and reconciliation, leadership, research, policy, and capacity building.  My lengthy private sector background can be a valuable asset to any number of development organizations seeking greater transparency, accountability, risk management, research, and client services worldwide.

I have spent time researching issues of human rights, economic sustainability, and genocide and mass atrocities in Peru and Cambodia.  Research should never be a purely extractive phenomenon, so I have also volunteered in those countries, teaching basic English and working on clean water acquisition projects.  I am a freelance consultant in Washington, DC.  If you are interested in the details of my CV, send a note to dave@davekidney.com.
